WASH & CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR BLACKYAK PRODUCT

BLACKYAK products are developed using a range of technical materials. To allow your garment to function perfectly it is essential that the material is clean and has been properly maintained. Dirt, oil, salt and other invasive elements will impair functions, such as breathability, insulation & water repellancy. We suggest that you care for your functional clothing by washing it regularly and by following our simple instructions. We will show you how to care for your BLACKYAK products so that they perform perfectly for you, when you need them to.

HOW TO WASH

MERINO

Merino wool cools, warms, prevents strong odors, is soft and light. In addition, the care of the natural material is simple. In order to guarantee the longevity of the product, a few things should nevertheless be observed when washing.

WASH

1 Close the zippers and turn the product to the left

2 Use wool detergent (ph-neutral, without protease)

3 Normal wash cycle at 30° Celsius | 86° Fahrenheit

Warning: Do not use fabric softener or bleach!

DRY

1 Dry in the air

Warning: DO NOT TUMBLE DRY

GORE-TEX® INFINIUM™

The comfort and function of GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ are well balanced. This ratio can be affected by permanent external influences such as fats, salts or other dirt. The care of the products ensures balance and full functionality.

WASH

1 Place the product in the washing machine with closed zippers, loosened Velcro and drawcords

2 Do not wash together with other heavily soiled laundry

3 Use liquid detergent for functional textiles

4 Wash in a gentle cycle (max. 40° Celsius | max. 104° Fahrenheit)

5 Rinse 2 times with clear water

6 Spin at the lowest possible speed

Warning: NO FABRIC SOFTENER, NO POWDER DETERGENT, NO STAIN REMOVER, NO BLEACH

DRY, IRONING & IMPREGNATION

1 DRY Air drying Alternative: Dry in dryer at warm temperature and low speed.

2 IRONING Alternatively to the dryer, the impregnation can also be reactivated by ironing (warm, without steam). Products with a permanently water-repellent surface must not be ironed! Place a cloth between the garment and the iron.

3 IMPREGNATION GORE® WINDSTOPPER®: If water no longer beads off, re-impregnate. Permanently water repellent surfaces: Wash and rinse twice. Do not reimpregnate

Warning: DO NOT DRY HOT

GORE TEX®

High performance equipment requires regular care to ensure that all functions are fully maintained and that the longevity of the product is guaranteed. Because sweat, grease, oils and dirt reduce the range of functions. Therefore, all GORE-TEX® – GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY™ products should be washed and dried regularly. This ensures that no rain can penetrate even during the next use.

5 Rinse 2 times with clear wate

6 Spin at the lowest possible speed

Warning: NO FABRIC SOFTENER, NO POWDER DETERGENT, NO STAIN REMOVER, NO BLEACH

DRY, IRONING & IMPREGNATION

1 DRY After air drying, tumble dry for 20 minutes. This reactivates the permanently water-repellent impregnation of the upper material.

2 IRONING Alternatively to the dryer, the impregnation can also be reactivated by ironing (warm, without steam). Place a cloth between the garment and the iron.

3 IMPREGNATION If the impregnation can no longer be activated by drying, it is advisable to apply a new impregnation.

DOWN

In order to maintain the insulating effect of the down in a product, it should be washed regularly. Wet and clotted down lose their bulking power, and thus their ability to store warm air. If lumps of down can already be seen from the outside or if an unpleasant odor can be detected, the down product should be washed.

That's how it works: test

WASH

1 Put the product into the washing machine with 4 down washing balls (alternatively tennis balls), turned to the left with closed zippers, without further washing

2 Use special down detergent!

3 Wash in a gentle cycle (max. 30° Celsius | max. 86° Fahrenheit) followed by a spin cycle

4 Rinse again to remove all detergent residues

5 Drying

Warning: NO HEAVY-DUTY DETERGENT, NO FABRIC SOFTENER

DRY

1 Put the product into the dryer separately from other laundry with 4 down balls (alternatively tennis balls)

2 Dry at max. 60° Celsius | max. 140° Fahrenheit for 60 minutes.

3 Allow to cool for at least 1 hour and shake occasionally

4 Dry again for 60 minutes

5 Allow the product to cool down and check for residual moisture when cold

6 If necessary, repeat the drying process

Warning: DO NOT AIR DRY

SYNTHETIC INSULATION

Every functional garment loses its performance through intensive use. Accordingly, garments should also be washed with synthetic insulation. The principle of regularity is as follows: as rarely as possible, as often as necessary. Sweat stains, dirt, odor and the way in which the product is used give information about when the product should be washed.

WASH

1 Close zippers, loosen velcro fasteners and drawstrings

2 Put the product into the washing machine turned to the left

3 Use detergent for functional textiles (ideally a 2 in 1 wash impregnation)

4 Wash in a gentle cycle (max. 30° Celsius | max. 86° Fahrenheit with subsequent spin cycle (max. 800 revolutions)

Warning: NO FABRIC SOFTENER, NO BLEACH

DRY

1 Dry in the air - shake regularly

2 Dry in a dryer - at medium temperature in a gentle programme witH down washing balls (alternatively tennis balls)

Warning: DO NOT IRON, DO NOT STEAM, NO DIRECT HEA

1. Put your clean jacket on a hanger and close all zippers

2. We recommend using waterproofing spray

3. Spray this evenly from approximately 15cm away

4. Wipe off possible surplus with a damp cloth

5. We recommend a second coat on stressed areas

6. Let it air dry before reusing it

CORRECT STORAGE

1. Wash if necessary

2. Only store your garments clean

3. Let it ventilate and dry

3.DO NOT squeeze the product

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

"It is a natural characteristic of our lightweight CORDURA® fabrics that the surface may become slightly textured after the first few wash cycles.

It's like your favorite pair of jeans that need to be worn in a few times to become the most comfortable.

This does not affect the performance of the fabric, but it is a sign that you are building a good relationship with your product and are already looking back on fond memories of shared missions."
