The BLACKYAK Risum Jacket

The RISUM GORE-TEX® 3L ACTIVE SHELL JACKET is a versatile and high-performance jacket designed specifically for alpine activities such as ski touring, mountaineering, hiking, trekking, and other outdoor missions. It was designed and tested in Europe and manufactured in Ukraine under strict quality standards. With a regular fit and a weight of 318 grams in women’s size S and 366 grams in men’s size M, this jacket offers both high functionality and sporty comfort.

High-Tech Materials Construction
The jacket is made from high-performance materials, featuring a relaxed, sporty fit and combining two of the best GORE-TEX® technologies: 40D GORE-TEX® Paclite Plus and 30D GORE-TEX® Active Shell. Different areas of the jacket utilize these fabrics for specialized functions. While GORE-TEX® Paclite Plus is used on the shoulders and back, GORE-TEX® Active Shell is applied to the body, sleeves, and hood. This exceptional material combination guarantees water and wind resistance with outstanding breathability and minimal weight. Thanks to its billions of pores, the GORE-TEX® membrane operates at an exceptional level. The pores are 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, ensuring absolute waterproofness. At the same time, the pores are 700 times larger than water vapor molecules, allowing sweat to escape, keeping the membrane highly breathable. This extremely thin membrane (about 0.01 mm) is combined with high-performance coatings and outer materials to create GORE-TEX laminates.
The 40D GORE-TEX® Paclite Plus is characterized by a minimalist 2.5-layer construction, providing lightness and compact packability. The outer layer is directly connected to the GORE-TEX® membrane, which is additionally protected by a specialized DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment.

The decision to use 30D GORE-TEX® Active Shell was made to enhance both functionality and durability while maintaining a soft feel. The inner layer of the GORE-TEX® Active Shell ensures noticeable softness, even when wearing the jacket without a mid-layer. The material finish, combined with the DWR coating, makes this jacket the optimal companion for your missions. In collaboration with GORE, every product containing a GORE-TEX® membrane is additionally tested by GORE-TEX® itself to ensure high standards of protection and comfort. This material combination makes the RISUM jacket not only lightweight but also highly effective in protecting against the elements.



Design and Functionality
The RISUM GORE-TEX® 3L ACTIVE SHELL JACKET is designed to provide maximum comfort during any sporting mission. The ventilation zippers under the arms allow for individual temperature control during physical exertion, preventing overheating. As with all BLACKYAK products, the design of this jacket is specifically influenced by the demands of alpine missions. With this in mind, the two side pockets of the jacket are strategically placed slightly higher to avoid interference with climbing harnesses or backpacks. For storing smaller valuables, there is an inner pocket with a zipper.

Freedom of Movement
The entire design of the jacket is intended to ensure optimal freedom of movement. The intelligent seam design and stretch inserts at the back are particularly noteworthy. By smartly positioning the materials, the back panel is placed on the bias (rotated 45°) to create a mechanical stretch, maximizing your range of motion and providing exceptional mobility—a technique that makes the jacket ideal for achieving each of your mission goals with optimized flexibility. Additional details support your control during different activities—the ergonomically shaped cuffs with Velcro fasteners allow for individual adjustments. To ensure you always have a clear view, even in the most challenging moments, we have reinforced the visor of the hood. This guarantees that the helmet-compatible hood, with its adjustable hem, always provides an unobstructed view.



Overcoming Weaknesses
The zipper is often the Achilles' heel of any functional jacket, as it is the most likely point for water to penetrate. To counter this, we at BLACKYAK developed the YKK Aquaguard® front zipper, which reliably repels water and effectively protects your front from moisture. This zipper can be opened from both the top and bottom, making it easier to use with a climbing harness or backpack. Additionally, the specially designed YAK ZIPPER PULLER ensures that you can easily open the jacket even when wearing gloves.

Safety in Mind
To assist in search and rescue operations, a RECCO® reflector is integrated into the visor of the hood, enabling rescuers to locate you more easily, thus increasing your safety in rugged terrain. In the event of an avalanche, quick location during a rescue operation is crucial. Especially in off-piste activities and ski tours, an additional avalanche transceiver (LVS device) is indispensable. This can be attached to the specially designed leash in the side pocket.



Layering
The sporty-relaxed cut of the RISUM jacket makes it ideal for layering. It can be worn either over or under other layers, and the soft inner layer ensures that it is comfortable to wear over a T-shirt during warmer missions.
